I wanted to meet Shimabuku, a Japanese artist I had heard about in my art school class.
I have a quiet father with whom I’ve never shared much about our personal life, and there were a few things I wanted to ask him before he dies.
Though he barely knows what I do, I decided to ask him to join me on a journey to meet Shimabuku.
I wanted to see what kind of conversation would unfold between this artist I admired and my father.
So, we set off for Naha, Okinawa for a week—our very first trip together, just the two of us.
